LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!

The Aldrich field is located on an old farmer's cow pasture that's been cleared and maintained by Aldrich for the last 5+ years. It's grassy and open with lots of 60+ foot tall trees along the edges to hang wire antennas. The location (for Google Maps) is 925 East Hill Rd. E, Oakham, MA, 01608

The best way to get there is:
From Worcester, Tatnuck Square:

Drive north on Rt. 122 out of Worcester for 8.6 miles. Just after crossing Long Pond at Rutland State Park, turn left onto Crawford Street. Follow Crawford Street 1.4 miles to a stop sign. Bear left onto East Hill Rd. and follow 1.2 miles to the top of the hill. Bear left, staying on East Hill Rd. for 0.4 miles. At the intersection where you can see the red barn in front of you, turn right and go 400 feet onto East Hill Rd. E. (dirt road) to the entrance on your right.

Follow along the left side of the field to the top of the slight hill and park near the top by the shed. Please avoid driving back and forth across the field with any heavy equipment like trucks or motorhomes. This is a dark, wooded site which will be very quiet at night. Please be considerate and used headphones on your rigs after dark. Aldrich members will open the observatory if the weather is clear and invite you to join them to enjoy the night sky.

Just a reminder … There are, however, some restrictions as follows:
  1. There will be no open fires allowed. Gas grills etc. are OK but the fire-pit cannot be used at this time until we've gotten clarification from the insurance company.
  2. Each CMARA member will have to sign a Waiver of Liability which protects both Aldrich Astronomical Society, Inc. and Mohegan Council, Inc. against lawsuits. The release form and waiver of liability will be at the motor-home and everyone entering the field must sign it or they will be asked to leave.
  3. Since CMARA's insurance policy only covers CMARA members, anyone other than paid members of CMARA will additionally need to bear the responsibility for their own actions and must understand that our insurance does not cover them nor can they recover damages against Aldrich or Mohegan Council (the property owners). As such, non-members will not be allowed to assist with setup, teardown or anything else which exposes them to the inherent risks in holding Field Day.
  4. There will be no alcoholic beverages allowed on site - No exceptions.
